Club Volunteer Awards

Melbourne Forest Racers – Dion Keech

Dion has made great strides in building MFR’s event organising capability by learning to use OE software, as well as sharing his knowledge with others in the club and running the computers at many events. In addition to this, he houses and coordinates our equipment, and also set a sprint race in 2024.

Dandenong Ranges – Peter and Ilze Yeates

Always the first at an event and last to leave, they take on event management, course setting, equipment logistics, set-up and pack-up duties always with a smile; routinely offer their house for committee meetings, bring share food to events and make everyone feel welcome.

Eureka – Gary Buchan

Yarra Valley – Russell Bulman

Russell manages our club equipment and brings this to club-run events.  For state series and championship events that are run or contributed to by our club, this involves taking the club trailer with long days and much lifting and packing.  When tents and other equipment comes back wet and muddy, he dries and cleans them.  His storage is neat and well-ordered so that it’s easy for an event organiser to find things.  He is a member of our club committee and has guided us wisely on acquisition of new and second-hand equipment. He is club co-ordinator for Street-O and he makes clear and updated Street-O maps.  All this is done with gentleness and humour.  We treasure him.

Nillumbik Emus – Laurie Niven

For her contribution to all NE activities, but also her fantastic efforts  on behalf of OV fixtures

Central Highlands – Tim Pope

Tim jumped in and course set for our Macedon 2024 MelbushO, Summer series events and did not hesitate to loan his car to assist getting portaloos back.  Additionally he has assisted with the juniors food tents and I believe instigated the hot soup option at Mt Tarrengower event.

Bayside Kangaroos – Tim Hatley

Tim has been active in running coaching clinics for club members and associates, ran a Come and Try event at Tarneit which led to the club being able to use Tarneit for Victorian Sprint Championships, and then Tim course set the Sprint Championships. His innovative sprint pairs relay as an afternoon event ensured most stayed around for the presentations. As a Controller he has assisted with Bush events as well as course set.

Tuckonie – Ken Moore

Ken has chaired the Tuesday StreetO series, on behalf of the 4 participating clubs,  for more years than I can remember.  He has been  OBE (over bl.. eighty) for more than 5 years, but maintains his enthusiasm each week, and organises the necessary meetings with diligence and aplomb.
