Park Street Update: Events May 15-21

Saturday park street orienteering continues next weekend on May 18, when the action shifts to St Helena – a lovely northern suburb with many trees, parks, and places where you can get off the streets.  Expet to find some contours!  Meet at Anthony Beale Reserve on St Helena Road.  Registration opens at 1.30pm – please check in and pay as soon as you arrive, and avoid the 1.55pm rush!  Make sure you’re ready to start at 2pm.  Choose from a 60 minute or 45 minute Run, or a 65 minute Power Walk – and be ready to earn as many points as you can, without being late.  Please keep bringing those yummy plates of afternoon tea.  Hot water etc provided.

If you prefer fewer hills, and some beachside scenery, head down to Rosebud on Sunday morning, May 19,  for another Mornington Peninsula MapRun.  This one starts from Lawson Park, Leon Avenue.  Register from 9.45am, and be ready to start at 10am.  You can Run or Walk for 60 minutes, and you’ll be using MapRun to collect as many points as possible.

As always, we have some great night events this week as well, including the final Tuesday Autumn Series event for 2024, at Essendon, with dinner and presentations afterwards.

Events Coming Up – details here:

  • Wed May 15 – Glen Iris, starting from the car park behind the shops on Marquis Street, Ashburton.  Start between 6.30pm and 7pm.
  • Sat May 18 – St Helena, starting from Anthony Beale Reserve.  Start at 2pm.  Bring cake!
  • Sun May 19 – Rosebud, starting from Leon Park on Lawson Avenue.  Start at 10am.
  • Mon May 20 – Heidelberg Heights (western Heidelberg, aka “the flat bit”), starting from Malahang Reserve, Oriel Road.  Start between 6.30pm and 7pm.
  • Tue May 21 – Essendon, starting from the corner of Richardson and Leake Streets.  Start between 6.30pm and 7pm.  Final event – dinner and presentations afterwards.

It’s Score format for all courses, ie visit controls in any order and grab as many points as you can.  Take notice of the time limit, and bring a torch at night. All events use the MapRun app, so bring your phone with the latest version loaded.  Choose from a 60 min or 45 min Run, or a 65 min Power Walk. Entry $6 adults, $4 juniors, pay by cash or card.  All the info you need is here.
