Jump Into Orienteering, Saturday September 9, Darebin Parklands

As part of the broader Orienteering Victoria strategy to increase participation, Bayside Kangaroos presents a Come and Try event at Darebin Parklands on Saturday 9th September between 1:30pm – 3:00pm, in conjunction with our Park & Street Saturday series at the same venue.

An ideal starting or “jump off” to orienteering, for anyone with children from pre school upwards.

When: Saturday 9th September 2023 1:30 – 3:00 pm. Courses close at 3:30 pm
Where: Darebin Parklands
Who for: Primarily aimed at children pre-school and primary school but we don’t exclude anybody.
Requirements: Parent accompaniment is compulsory for children (no drop off service)
Cost: Free (require registration details)

What is happening?

A Sonic The Hedgehog themed event.  We will have a series of courses set up in the park.  Courses will be tailored for pre-school ages and up.
The courses levels are (too) easy, very easy and easy.  We will instruct you on:

  • Features of the orienteering map
  • How to locate yourself (no compass required) using features
  • Electronic timing will be used on most courses, and you’ll receive a printout
