Learn To Orienteer in Melbourne

Our first session of Learn to Orienteer went well, even with an untimely downpour! Participants were eager to learn about:

  • the orienteering map,
  • how to orientate a map using ground features,
  • the 3 steps of navigation.

The next session is at Darebin Parklands on Sunday 24 May, in connection with the MelBushO. It’s not too late to join us for the last 4 sessions of this Learn to Orienteer, just complete this google form: https://forms.gle/ro6A1C9NThiyB6dv5

More about the LTO program:

The next Learn to Orienteer – Melbourne program is kicking off this May–July, and registrations are now open. Now’s the time to get your friends involved and sign up.

This program runs alongside five MelBushO events across Melbourne. Each session includes an hour of structured, hands-on learning, followed by participation in a MelBushO course to put your new skills into practice in a real event environment.

You’ll build the fundamentals of orienteering (compass use, route choice, navigation and a lot more) while gaining confidence in a supportive, social setting. It’s also a great way to connect with other newcomers and become familiar with local orienteering opportunities across Melbourne’s parks and bushland.
