Victorian Secondary Schools Championships, Friday 22 May

With the Australian Championship in Tasmania and the recent NOL finale in Ballarat, junior orienteers can turn their attention to the upcoming Victorian Secondary Schools Championships.  VSSOC is one of the highlights in the Victorian Orienteering calendar and an important development event for our sport.

The event will be held on Friday 22nd May at Westerfolds Park, though the courses will primarily traverse the Candlebark Park map to the east. The terrain has a network of walking and biking trails and mostly open forest, enabling courses suitable for beginners and also challenging more experienced students.

Reminder for students, parents and teachers to enter the events ASAP – the entry deadline is WEDNESDAY 13 MAY.  The event is one of the key selection events for students wanting to represent Victoria at the Australian Secondary Schools Orienteering Championships in ACT in late September. All information can be found on Eventor here https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/Show/23817

We would like any volunteers available to help with the event from 8am – 2pm on Friday. Volunteers will need a current Working with Children’s check to attend the event.  Please contact Rob Preston, Orienteering Victoria Schools Officer, at rob.preston@vicorienteering.asn.au.
