Victorian Schools Orienteering Sprint, Monash Clayton, Monday 30 June

Fun, fast and complex urban orienteering for primary and secondary students!

Monash Clayton was the venue for the first ever Victorian Schools Sprint Orienteering Champs – and 180 excited primary and secondary students took part, vying for the medals, and the trophy for Champion School.

Besides the race itself, students could take part in coaching and warmup sessions, then cheer on their teachers, parents and helpers in the fast and furious Teachers Sprint.  It was a very exciting, fun day for everyone.  Thanks to Rob (course planner/co-organiser), Tim (event advisor), Hania (co-organiser), and the many volunteers from Victoria’s clubs who gave up their free time to ensure that all went smoothly.  Thanks also to the staff of Monash Clayton who provided permission and made the arena space available.

Congratulations to the two Champion Schools – Surrey Hills Primary School, and Doveton College – who are now proud custodians of two new trophies.  Congratulations to all the class winners and placegetters, and to everyone who took part.
