Victorian Night O Champs and Good Morning Bunjil – 25-26 Oct 2025

Victorian Night O Champs and Good Morning Bunjil – 25-26 Oct 2025
Bungal State Forest aka Bunjil (in the distant past: Little Forest) – South of Mt Egerton.

Full details on Eventor. Entries now open.

The area has pleasant open forest, with little fallen timber. Makes night navigation possible, even for those who have not navigated previously in the dark. There are some major tracks which provide safety handrails. The assembly area is in a friendly farmer’s paddock, where free camping will be available on Saturday night. We hope to have a campfire, fire weather conditions permitting.

The map at 1:10,000 is easy to read. It has been very recently updated by Rod Gray. The courses have been set by super experienced Orienteer and Rogainer Derek Morris.
The Night Champs is a 3-hour score event with controls having different points value, which adds to the challenge of route planning. There is also a 90-minute option.

On the Sunday morning you have the choice of:
a 2-hour score course: find as many controls as you can in that time
– or a line course: either the 6.9 km moderate/long, or the 4.1km moderate/medium.
You might be seeing in the daylight what you were looking at the night before
– or you might be attending just the Sunday, and visualising how easy or hard those
controls might have been the night before!
Entry on the day is possible, but pre-entry is much preferred – Enter now.
