Vic Short Champs – Saturday 19 September – Tarnagulla

Enjoy a day of fast-paced orienteering at the Vic Short Champs in Tarnagulla this Saturday on the humpty dumpty terrain of the Tappit Hen map, last used for the 2025 Easter Prologue.

The event features two short races, a morning race with “turn up an go” punching starts and an afternoon race featuring a chasing start where your start time is based on your time in the morning race so the first across the line are the overall winners. This is the same format that was used for the popular Vic Short Champs event at Dunolly as part of the Easter 3 Days carnival on Anzac Day 2025.

The event will have a European flavour, with event centre co-located with a café, and longish walks to starts, although they are flat and not as long as at many events in Europe.

The event centre is at the Tarnagulla Community Centre next to Soldiers Memorial Park in the centre of Tarnagulla, a great place to relax in the sun or shade between races.

Mary, who runs the local café, will operate at the Community Centre for the day serving coffee, sandwiches, savories and cakes.  Mary plans to be there all day from before the first race until after the afternoon race.

The start time window for the morning race is 10:00 am to 11:30 am.  Start at 1 minute intervals any time up till 11:30.

Entries close at midnight on Thursday 17 September.  Entry is by pre-entry on Eventor.  There will be no enter-on-the-day except for newcomers and novices wanting to try the afternoon Easy course.

No visiting or training on the Tappit Hen map prior to the event on 19 September 2026.

See the updated Final Information Sheet on Eventor for all the details.
