Double Header Weekend Castlemaine – Bendigo Bush and Vic Series 4, 16 and 17 May Don’t miss this fantastic double header weekend of gold mining orienteering in Castlemaine and Chewton! Stay overnight in Victoria’s historic central goldfields, and enjoy top quality orienteering on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday 16 May – Bendigo Bush Score event, Black Jack Gully Event Directions: From Bendigo exit the freeway at Harcourt and drive towards Castlemaine on highway. After 1 km turn left into Black Jack Rd and then right into Peelers Rd. Continue for 2 km on bitumen to assembly on right. Choose either of 2 courses: – Scatter Sprint event: 45 mins. Get as many controls as you can in the time allowed. Controls must be taken in Odds/Evens order (or Evens/Odds depending upon your first control choice). Each control worth 10 points, late penalty 10 points per minute. – Novice Course around tracks for beginners, 1.5km. Start time: Any time between 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm. Terrain: Open bushland and old gold mining (relatively flat). The event will offer the new standards of 4 hard, one moderate and one easy course, plus a trail course. As per the new standards, Course 4 will provide Hard navigation, but Easy physically.
