Vic MTBO Sprint and Long Champs Weekend, Whroo, August 31 and September 1 After another visit to Whroo, the organising team is pleased to announce that all is in place for the 2024 Victorian MTBO Championships. The forest is looking spectacular with wildflowers and wattle brightening things up in the warming spring weather. The tracks are firm and fast with just a few avoidable puddles around. Looking forward to seeing good entry numbers coming in now so that you can all enjoy this terrific riding area. Bulletin 2 is now available in Eventor. This bulletin contains the full details about the events and courses. The Sprint and Long MTBO Championships will be held at Whroo (6km from Rushworth). The Sprint championship on Saturday afternoon and the Long event on Sunday morning, both using the Balaclava Hill map. The Whroo map covers a large area, so we will use a more complex part of the map for the Sprint event and the long event’s courses will take in the entire map area. In addition there is a FREE MapRun event on the edge of Rushworth so that competitors can make best use of the weekend. This event will be open to ride on the Friday afternoon or the Saturday morning. More details in Bulletin 2. Accommodation update: The Rushworth motel (just 6km from the event centre) has plenty of rooms still available for Saturday night. Get in quickly! Phone 5856 1090. Other accom options are in Nagambie which is 20 minutes away. There is also a free camping area at Whroo with drop toilets. Anyone staying there will need to adhere to the embargo conditions – so no riding out of the campground area. The Championships Dinner is at the Nagambie Rowing Club on Saturday evening. Book your place at the dinner in Eventor – no fee, pay for your meal on the night. The club is in the centre of Nagambie overlooking the lake with terrific views.
