Action Packed Anzac Weekend!

If you think you’re in for a quiet long weekend weeding the garden, watching the footy or painting the fence, think again!  Anzac Weekend this year is FULL of orienteering events:

  • Thursday April 25, 2pm onwards – Waterford Valley ReRun. Originally held on April 1, the weather fooled us, the heavens opened, and as a result we have a pile of nice dry maps that never saw action. So we’re re-running the event for anyone who’d like to come along. If you took part last Monday, you’re invited to return and see if you can improve your score – no charge. Your higher score will serve as your official result for Week 1. If you didn’t get there, then this is your chance to catch up. You’ll need to pay or use a pass, but you will also receive a score for “Week 1” of the Monday Night Series. Either way, you’ll enjoy one of our favourite maps!  The start is at Karoo Reserve, in Rowville. Registration opens at 1.30pm, and everyone starts at 2pm.
  • Saturday April 27, 2pm onwards – Classic CakeO at the Creeklands (Blackburn).  At event 4 in the Saturday Series, you’ll love exploring the gorgeous, narrow tree-lined streets, and the trails along the creek that runs through beautiful Blackburn.  The start is at the Pakenham Street Scout Hall.  Bring a small plate of afternoon tea to share.  Registration opens at 1.30pm, everyone starts at 2pm.
  • Sunday April 28, 10am-1.30pm – Fun With Maps!  A free family day at Abbey Walk in Vermont, with map-based activities for adults and kids alike. Can you locate Pirate Pete and his Treasure Chest? Perfect for anyone wanting to try a MelbushO, or a Saturday Series event. Register between 10am and 11am, and complete as many activities as you like, at your own pace. Our friendly, knowledgeable coaches will supply all maps and equipment, teach you the ropes, and answer any and all questions.
