Victoria prides itself on presenting world class sprint events! Look out for sprints in January-March, and October-November. The Victorian Sprint Championships are held in late November and are open to all. Test yourself against your peers, or make it another excuse to get out in the sunshine. Feature Weekends – March in Victoria features a biennial Sprint Weekend. Melbourne has done the honours in the past, and in 2024, the action moves to Ballarat for the first time. With four races over two days, you’ll experience some of the best sprint maps in the country. A 2024 calendar highlight! The Melbourne City Race is held each year, usually in November. The premiere Urban event in the Southern Hemisphere, featuring European urban style racing in locations like Docklands, Port Melbourne, or Williamstown. Sunday Morning Sprints (SMS) – four fantastic Sprint races on a mad mix of maps, including an Indoor-Outdoor Sprint Relay at Monash Clayton; an urban maze at Kensington; a campus classic at University of Melbourne; and some mayhem on a new map at Mt Lilydale. The SMS action takes place during January, February and March 2024 Summer Shorts and Sprints – Saturdays or Sundays in October and November, these urban short distance races are family-friendly, and a great introduction to orienteering. There are six races in parks, urban areas and campuses, plus a free “Jump In” activity day to kick things off. Featuring colour maps, a choice of three courses, kid-friendly venues, and SI Air electronic timing, these events are the perfect way to prepare for the Sprint Champs or the Primary Schools Champs; or just enjoy your weekends.
