Starting from the 4th Williamstown Sea Scouts hall on The Strand, you’ll race through the historic Seaport of Williamstown, where seafaring history is alive and well. Your course will feature Nelson Place, The Strand, Point Gellibrand, the Timeball Tower – and of course the ships, the yachts, the piers, the pubs, and the parks, that make Williamstown so unique.

Using a full colour, detailed map, you’ll navigate between controls in order to complete your course in the quickest time. But it’s not about speed. Good planning and smart route choices will save time, so be prepared for some thinking!

Our course planner, Andrew Turner, won the 2025 Course Setter of the Year Award. He’s already hard at work finding places that will take you back in time, pique your curiosity, and distract you from your map. And he has a couple of surprises in store.

We’ve added new categories this year. Each distance has a Mens, Womens, and Open (non-gender specific) category.

You can also opt for the 10 km Express category – if you can go the distance but usually run without a map, enter 10X! You’ll cover the longest distance available, but the navigating will be more straightforward.

IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU

Choose your distance – options are 10 km, 8 km, 6 km, 4 km, and 3 km (with easier navigation). Distances are approximate, and you can expect to go further, depending on whether you pick the shortest route.

Choose your category – each distance has a category for Men, Women, and Open (non-gender specific).

Choose your format – on the 10 km course, you can pick a classic course with a lot of controls, direction changes, route choices, and detailed map reading; or you can opt for the new 10X Express course, covering a similar distance but with fewer controls and more straightforward navigating.

For younger participants and newcomers to both running and navigating, we suggest choosing a 3 km category – but the choice is yours!

Choose your pace – yes it’s a race, but you can take it at any pace you want – run, jog, walk, or mix it up; be as competitive or as casual as you like.

Choose your start time – registration will open from 10.30am. Start any time between 11am and 12pm. Courses close at 2pm.

Choose how you get there – you’ll find parking not too far away, but steer clear of Nelson Place, which is buzzing on a Sunday. Take the train to North Williamstown and warm up with a 20 minute walk; or cycle the Bay Trail.

Endless choices for afterwards – Williamstown is packed full of cafes, restaurants, pubs, ice cream shops and more – but don’t go until we’ve handed out the prizes!

Entry fees: $20 Adults, $10 Juniors (under 21). Entry includes a detailed colour map, a souvenir race number, and loan of a Sportident timing device if required. On the day entry is available while maps last – pay by cash or card at Registration, between 10.30am and 11.30am. NO ENTRIES AFTER 11.30AM.
