Beechworth Orienteering Weekend, July 4 and 5 Give yourself a mini break in July by heading up the Hume, for a weekend of orienteering in and around Beechworth, in conjunction with a camp for Victorian and ACT juniors. Saturday – Beechworth Gorge – Junior Squad Fundraiser Details and online entry Sunday – Vic Series 6, Kangaroo Crossing West (M&M Land) Long Distance, near Eldorado Details and online entry Head for the North-East and the historic alluvial gold diggings at Eldorado on Sunday 5 July 2026, for Vic Series 6, a Long-Distance event hosted by Albury Wodonga Orienteering Club and featuring complex granite in open running but hilly terrain. Course setter Michael Burt has prepared the usual 6 Vic Series courses (4 Hard, Moderate and Easy) with plenty of controls and route choice options. Parking is close to the arena and about 300m from the start triangle. Public toilets are available near the General Store in Eldorado – the smallest hotel in Victoria – and 2 portaloos will be provided near the arena. Kangaroo Crossing West offers terrain similar to Kangaroo Crossing without fighting your way through native pines.The prickly pear offers a special visual attraction with mature plants up to four metres high looking like sculptures of hairy green frying pans. You are warned however to tread carefully to avoid the prickles. Pre-entries Close: Thursday 2 July 2026, 11:59 pm. Where: Beechworth, Victoria When: Saturday 4 July – Monday 6 July 2026 How: Register your interest via Eventor Get ready to level up your navigation skills, explore some fantastic terrain, and hang out with fellow junior orienteers from across both Victorian Vikings and ACT Blue Lightning squads. Target group is athletes from 12-18 years old, though we won’t restrict attendance as long as parents are in attendance. What to expect: Local event at Beechworth Gorge (enter via Eventor) Vic Series 3- Kangaroo Crossing (enter via Eventor) Exciting training sessions in and around Beechworth Fun team activities and challenges Plenty of time to relax, socialise, and make new friends from Victoria and Canberra.
