Course Planning Workshops in February

Do you want to develop your course planning (course-setting) skills?
Yarra Valley Orienteering Club will conduct three course planning workshops during February 2026 – for bush, for sprint, and for park & street.

The schedule is:
Friday 6 Feb: Setting good legs on bush maps. Workshop facilitator: Alex Tarr
Friday 13 Feb: Course planning for sprints. Workshop facilitator: Joe Hudd
Friday 20 Feb: Laying out 25 street control sites to get correct course lengths. Workshop facilitator: Russell Bulman.

The workshops will be conducted on Friday evenings from 7.30 to 10pm.
Venue: the home of Ruth & David Goddard at 17 Glenard Drive EAGLEMONT 3084.

The workshops are designed particularly for orienteers who intend to plan courses or assist to plan courses during the next 18 months, i.e. those that will fairly soon put into practice the knowledge they have gained by attending.

Participation in the Street-O workshop will require some preliminary ‘homework’. We invite members of all orienteering clubs to participate, but there will be an upper limit of ten participants for each workshop. Early expressions of interest will gain priority.

If you choose to attend one or more of these workshops, please express your interest by an email to Ruth Goddard at ruthg@netspace.net.au
