Park Street Update: Events May 8-14

Wattle Park proved popular last weekend; and we have another fantastic map and course in store, at Tatterson in Keysborough, next Saturday May 11.  You’ll receive a full colour map with 23 controls, most of which are in parkland.  The famous Tree Maze will be a feature, along with many lakes, bridges, wetlands and open spaces – perfect for spotting ducks!  We’re starting from Church Reserve, a lovely park with a playground and picnic shelter, sandwiched between Harlequin Drive and Tulip Way. By relocating away from our usual start in Tatterson Park, we’ve freed it up to place heaps of controls in there.

Registration opens at 1.30pm – please check in and pay as soon as you arrive, and avoid the 1.55pm rush! Make sure you’re ready to start at 2pm. Choose from a 60 minute or 45 minute Run, or a 65 minute Power Walk – and be ready to earn as many points as you can, without being late!  CakeO has resurged this season, so please keep bringing those yummy plates of afternoon tea. Hot water etc provided.

We have some great night time events this week too, including the reappearance of the dreaded Vortex of Doom at Wheelers Hill!

Events Coming Up – details here:

  • Wed May 8 – Wheelers Hill, feat. The Vortex of Doom – starting from Columbia Park, Columbia Road, Wheelers Hill.  Start between 6.30pm and 7pm.  Will you make it back intact???
  • Sat May 12 – Tatterson, starting from Church Reserve, Harlequin Drive/Tulip Way, Keysborough.  Start at 2pm, cakes and tea/coffee afterwards
  • Mon May 13 – Koonung Crossing, starting from Park Reserve, Park Avenue, Doncaster.  Start between 6.30pm and 7pm.
  • Tue May 14 – Maidstone, starting from Barrett Reserve, Essex Street, West Footscray.  Start between 6.30pm and 7pm.  This is the second last Tuesday Autumn Series event, so get out there and get those all-important points, before the series wraps up!

It’s Score format for all courses, ie visit controls in any order and grab as many points as you can.  Take notice of the time limit, and bring a torch at night. All events use the MapRun app, so bring your phone with the latest version loaded.  Choose from a 60 min or 45 min Run, or a 65 min Power Walk. Entry $6 adults, $4 juniors, pay by cash or card.  All the info you need is here.
