Big News From Bulgaria – Maya Places 4th in Her First World MTBO Champs!

Fantastic results coming in from the World MTBO Champs which commenced tonight with the Sprint – Maya Bennette claimed an incredible 4th place in W20, just one second away from 3rd, and a tiny 48 seconds behind first place!  What a superstar of the future.  Victoria’s other junior World Champs debutante, Lucas Kent, also did brilliantly, finishing in 31st place in M20, only 4 mins 29 seconds behind the winner!  An amazing way for both our young riders to kick off their World Champs campaign. We can’t wait to see how they fare over the rest of the week.

The great results continued with the Mass Start race – Maya placed 14th, while Lucas was 36th.  The Middle and Long Distance races proved tougher for both our competitors; Maya was unwell and finished 24th in the Middle, while Lucas was 35th.  In the Long, Lucas showed great determination to finish his race, while Maya moved up a couple of places to 22nd, to wrap up an amazing week of racing!

You can see more posts and photos on the OV facebook page.

In the Relay, Maya and Lucas will team up with Australia’s only senior WMTBO representative, Will Whittington.
