Bendigo Bush Orienteering, August 2 and 9 The bush around Bendigo is always gorgeous at this time of year, as the wattles and spring flowers start to emerge. Bendigo Orienteers has scheduled two events in really interesting areas over the coming weeks. Both events offer 5 courses ranging from a hard navigation to easy. Saturday August 2 – Sedgwick South This iconic area near Bendigo is a local favourite and comprises mainly open running spur gully terrain. Jayne Sales and James Robertson have set the courses and they are bound to be of high quality. The start location is at the Sedgwick Hall, which has been booked for the event, and participants and their families can stay warm and dry. For more information and entries click here. Entries can be made through Eventor until Friday August 1 at 18:00 hours: Saturday August 9 – Smith’s Reef This is an historic gold mining area near Maldon and a favourite area for many orienteers. The start is at the Old Gower School between Castlemaine and Maldon. Nola Juniper and Lorraine Leversha are the course setters. Bendigo Orienteers will also be running a ‘SI stick renaming’ activity at this event. If you think your SI stick has the wrong name on it, then bring it along to this event and we will see what we can do. For more information and entries click here.
