The first round of this year's Vic MTBO Series is at Anglesea using the Eumeralla map that was used for the 2015 Australian Championships. As riders that competed in those championships can attest, the Eumeralla map contains a fantastic number of fun single tracks and fireroads through some glorious forest, some challenging navigation options and some spectacular views.
The organising team has been busy for some time getting permissions from the five authorities covered by this map and this alone has been a huge task. Unfortunately the Scout Camp is unavailable to us, so will will be assembling right in Anglesea at the Lions Park Reserve near the Bowls Club. There are toilets nearby plus Cafés and shops.
Despite not having the scout camp available, we have extended the map to include some exciting new areas that will still give you some great riding and nav challenges. Each course will include a no choice transition leg that takes you through the scout camp and to the trails beyond.

After entering town you will see the CFA on the right and YMCA on the left. After Inverlochy Street (left), exit the Great Ocean Road by going straight ahead (about 100 metres). The Great Ocean road bends right. At the roundabout turn right and proceed to parking, adjacent to bowls club. If you go over the bridge in Anglesea you have gone too far!
MAKE A WEEKEND OF IT!
For those wishing to enjoy the Surf Coast, you are encouraged to come the day before or make it an extended day.
There is great riding near the course.
• Ride the sprint course from the 2015 Australian champs in Torquay (Torquay-sprint-map.pdf)
• Ride on trails from Torquay out to the iconic Bells Beach. This can be done as a circuit by continuing into the Ironbark Basin and, after a short section of Great Ocean Road, ride on an old road section along the highway from Bellbrae (Bells-beach-ride.jpg). For more details, call Heather 0418 875 200
• Ride the Currawong Falls track at Aireys Inlet - by riding anti clockwise it is a flat ride until close to the falls. Then it starts to climb up to Gentle Annie followed by a fun descent back to the start (about 10 km)
Accommodation: There is plenty of accommodation in Torquay and Anglesea. The Anglesea Beachfront Caravan Park is adjacent to the assembly area of the event.
Wineries & Cafés: Don't forget the local wineries (Bellbrae Estate, Brown Magpie, Wolseley and more), cafes (McGains) and the new Choclaterie on the Great Ocean Road between Anglesea and Torquay. We recommend McGains Café & Nursery for the après event coffee and cake only - it is on the course!
