Bush Orienteering Is On The Way Back!

Big news!  Find out how bush orienteering is making a comeback!!

Thanks to the latest Victorian Government announcement of further easing of restrictions, we’re looking forward with great anticipation to the imminent return of organised orienteering, starting on June 27 with the Bendigo Series, and followed by other events in July.

Our Return to Sport plan is now available; this provides comprehensive guidelines to ensure clubs can hold safe events.  The RTS plan will be subject to frequent and ongoing change at short notice,  as restrictions ease further and the number of allowed participants gradually increases over coming weeks and months.  It will be widely communicated, and is important reading for everyone.  Find it here

Important – the change to restrictions for indoor and outdoor gatherings announced on Saturday June 20 DO NOT AFFECT ORGANISED SPORT.  Orienteering events will continue as planned, with training activities and competitions from June 22 onwards.  Groups undertaking sporting activity and competition are capped at 20 adults until further notice.

The Bendigo Saturday Series resumes on June 27 at Smiths Reef.  List of events

  • Three sessions, each limited to 20 adults – 12-1pm; 1-2pm; 2-3pm
  • A separate junior session with no limit on numbers
  • Pre-entry required; no entries or payments at the events. Enter on Eventor – entries open until sessions fill.
  • Choice of 5 courses

MelBushO will return on Sunday July 19 at Police Paddocks, followed by Banksia Park on Sunday July 26.  List of MelBushO events with revised dates and locations

  • Several sessions, each limited to the permitted number of adults – times to be confirmed
  • A separate junior session with no limit on numbers
  • Pre-entry required; no entries or payments at the events. Enter on Eventor – entries will open two weeks prior and close when all sessions fill
  • Choice of 5 courses

Other Bush Events  Provisional OV Bush Calendar for July-December

The OV Bush Calendar has been redrafted, and dates have been adjusted as needed.  All dates and locations are subject to government health directives and landowner permissions.

Brimbank Park Training, Sunday July 12 – POSTPONED due to the announcement on Stay Home directives for 10 Melbourne postcodes.  We will reschedule these sessions later in the year.
