Saturday Event Report

Kensington is a favourite map of many, and while westerners are very familiar with it, we easterners don’t get over there often enough. You really have to focus in and read the fine detail on this one, otherwise it is very easy to come unstuck.Fond memories from the Park Street Champs a few years back brought people across to redeem themselves (in my case, it didnt quite work out that way).

Judi set a testing course with multiple options that had us reluctant to leave the start triangle without a good long look. Like many, I got caught out on the multi level section (12 and 20), and made a poor choice to get 12 early, only to return very close to it later. All great fun.

A rare appearance at streetO paid off for Brody, who won A course from Peter and Steven. Ian took out B course with 62 points, just ahead of Stephen on 60, and Carolyn on 56. Andrew also recorded a good win with 62 points, just edging out Maria on 61 and David on 59.

Time to check on the overall results, after week 15 – your best 12 scores are counted, so make sure you get to enough of the last 7 races to qualify!

On A1, Steven looks solid on top, ahead of Ron and Stephen, but there are still a few contenders who are yet to hit the quota of 12 events, so this is no lock yet. On A2, Lauris is four points clear of Stuart, with Tracey in third; again, averages indicate that this will change over the next few weeks.

B1 sees Victoria in the lead, ahead of Murry and Phil, but once again it’s far from decided. On B2, Pete is out in front with me second and Sue third.

Robert heads the field on PW1, five points clear of Barry, who is three points clear of Ian M. Derek tops the A2 leaderboard, ahead of Ilze and Bernie S, who are just one point apart. Ian S heads up PW3, with Mike second and Allan just two points in arrears in third.

Next Saturday August 4 is another of our hugely popular Park events, on a full colour map at Coburg Lake. And note that the start location for the EndurO on Saturday August 11 has CHANGED; it is now Holland Avenue, Deakin University, off Burwood Highway.

Your correspondent is signing off for a while – the Wraps will return in September.
