Stage 3 and 4 Restrictions in Victoria – Vic Champs and other events postponed

Stage 4 restrictions for metropolitan Melbourne, and Stage 3 restrictions for regional Victoria, mean that from August 2nd, all orienteering events and activities within Victoria are postponed or cancelled until at least September 13.  Some events planned for October and November, including the Victorian Middle and Long Distance Champs in north eastern Victoria, are also postponed due to inability to obtain permits or plan courses.

Please follow Victorian Government directives for exercise under these restrictions. In Melbourne, this means:

  • Exercise within 5 kms of where you live
  • Exercise for no more than 2 hours per day
  • Exercise with houshold members, or one other person outside your household, but within your 5 km radius
  • Do not exercise between 9m and 5am (curfew)
  • Wear a mask unless running; carry a mask if running
  • No organised orienteering events; please continue to use Maplink and DIY to find maps close to home. Need help finding maps? Contact [email protected]

In regional Victoria:

  • Exercise with up to 5 people from a maximum of two households
  • No restrictions on the amount of time, or the distance travelled, to exercise
  • All members of the group of 5 must live in regional Victoria
  • No organised orienteering events; DIY training only

Sept 29 – Oct 4:  Victorian Middle and Long Distance Championships in NE Victoria POSTPONED.  Embargoes remain in place until these events are completed.  The proposed Australian Schools Challenge in Beechworth is also cancelled.  We plan a return to northeast Victoria for 2021.

All Primary Schools Championships are cancelled for 2020.

Oct 16-18:  Victorian MTBO Championships, Maryborough-Dunolly – postponed until April 2021 – find out more

Sept 20: Vic Spring Tarrengower – postponed until 2021

Nov 1 – Muckleford Maxi – postponed until 2021

Nov 1 – AWOC Club Champs, Barambogie – tbd

Nov 28 – Victorian Sprint Champs – tbd

Nov 29 – Melbourne City Race – postponed until early 2021 (Jan or Feb – date to be confirmed)

Regional events – there will be no organised events or activities in Bendigo or other regional locations until regional Victoria moves to Step 3 of the Victorian Roadmap.  You must exercise in accordance with Step 2.  Please use common sense – stay close to home, do not travel for unreasonable distances, or exercise for long periods of time.  We hope that events in regional Victoria can recommence from late September but this will depend on both restrictions and permits.

Park Street Summer Series – our summer program has been delayed until the end of October, when Step 3 commences in metro Melbourne.  Due to the uncertainty, the fixture will be prepared and made available online, but not printed until we are confident that events will go ahead as planned.  We’ll need to be flexible and adaptable with dates, locations, and operating conditions.  We will start the program as soon as we are allowed, and hold as many events as we can.

Other events planned for the remainder of 2020 will be assessed, and decisions announced, in due course.
