2008 Melbourne Summer MTBO Series
Event # 1 Lysterfield, Sat 12 January

After the sweltering heat this week, it was a relief that the first event in the 2008 Summer MTBO Series was run
in perfect riding conditions at Lysterfield with 95 riders taking part.
Four riders managed to visit all of the control locations within the allowed 75 minutes with former World MTBO
Champ Adrian Jackson completing it all in just 64 minutes.
Several controls mysteriously moved and appeared in locations other than what was shown on the map, but most
riders took this in their stride (or should I say, rolled with it) and completed a good loop of controls all the same.

Food and drinks were popular with all supplies running out, so we'll have a bigger supply at Silvan next Saturday.
We make a small profit from these sales each week and it has been suggested that this money could go towards
funding a Junior Victorian MTBO competitor to compete in the Junior World Championships.
2008 will be the first running of the Junior World Champs which will be held in conjunction with the senior World
Champs in Poland in August. Eligible juniors need to be 20 or under in 2008. Let me know what you think of this
idea please.
