| 2006 Victorian MTBO Series – Event #1 – 5th February 2006 Bayside Kangaroos – “Darlimurla” Mirboo North Coursesetter: Tony Clark, Organiser: Peter Cusworth The first round of this year's State MTBO Series was run at Mirboo North where we enjoyed perfect riding conditions (especially compared to the last event in October last year!). Tony Clark set the courses on his own map "Darlimurla" and we were most thankful for the use of Tracey Summerton's property for the picturesque Start/Finish and Assembly area. Adrian Jackson and Alex Randall fresh from the Wildside Cross country MTB race in Tasmania, were in fine form and blitzed Course 1. Carolyn Jackson made a welcome but tentative return to her bike are spending several weeks convalescing after an accident and surgery. Several others, who hadn't already warmed up with some of the Summer Series events, made a rusty return to MTBO with some big time losses due to some navigational problems (no names mentioned). As is usual it was good to see a few more new faces trying an MTBO State Series event. Heather and Peter McNulty found a little Fox Terrier wandering on Strezlecki Highway not far from the event. They brought it to the event where it seemed to be have a fun time. The Jackson family, being experienced foxy carers, took on the task of trying to find the dog's home. The good news is that they did find foxy's home and apparently a young girl who had been most upset all day was much relieved to have her dog back safely. |
