    Saturday 5th May.  Petticoat Gully. State Series #2

    Map: Petticoat Gully 1:10 000, 5 metre contours. Remapped by Rob Plowright.

    Terrain: Complex gold mining; some steep terrain but generally moderate slopes.

    Start/Finish Location: Cabbage Tree township. Google Maps

    Directions from Melbourne: Take the Western Freeway west from Melbourne to the Wallace exit (signposted to Creswick). Follow roadsigns to Creswick, look for orienteering signs after 12 km.

    Directions from Ballarat: Follow the Midland Hwy north to Creswick (18 km). As you approach the centre of Creswick, turn right onto the road to Melbourne. Look for orienteering signs after 1.8 km.

    SPORTIdent: SportIdent will be used to time all competitors. Sticks will be available for hire if required at $2.50 per stick.

    Entry Fees: Senior - $12 with pre-entry, $14 on the day. Junior (18 and under, concession students) $5 with pre-entry, $7 on the day. Family (2 Adults + Children) $30 with pre-entry, $35 on the day.

    Start times 10:00 to 1:00pm. Course closes at 3:00pm

    Directions to event at Slaty Creek Picnic Ground. Parking will be limited and car pooling is suggested.

    >From Melbourne: Use the Western Hwy towards Ballarat and take the Creswick exit 291. Drive 22kms following road signs towards Creswick then turn left onto gravel road marked Slaty Creek Picnic Ground and follow O signs a further 3kms to parking area. Allow 1.5 hours from Melbourne

    >From Ballarat: Take The Midland Hwy, A300, from Ballarat towards Creswick. After 17kms and just on entering Creswick turn right at the Bungaree/ Melbourne sign (Melbourne Road) C291. Travel for 1.9kms and turn right onto gravel road and follow the O signs a further 3kms to parking area. Allow 25 minutes from Ballarat

    >From Bendigo: Take the Calder Hwy, A79, to Harcourt, then turn right onto the Midland Hwy, A 300, to Creswick. Just past the shops turn left at the Bungaree/Melbourne sign (Melbourne Rd) C291 and follow as for Ballarat. Allow 1.5 hours from Bendigo.

    The furthest parking could be up to 400m from assembly area and the START is a 5 minute walk, 250m.

    Soup and toasties will be available from Junior Squad Fund Raising Team.
