Subject: Kangaroo Gully SL event - CATI
Bruce,
The upcoming SL event on Kangaroo Gully was discussed at the Bendigo Orienteers
club meeting on Tuesday. AS per the email below, the club agreed to charge a
flat $15 for seniors and $5 for juniors regardless of whether they were VOA
members or not. As per Colin Walkers email, the event will be publicised as a
Come and Try It (CATI) event for local orienteers.
The club is prepared to pay the difference between the member and non-member
VOA levies in an attempt to increase participation at the SL event and to
ensure continuity for locals who typically get a club event every week. The
suggestion was put forward that the event could be promoted to all clubs as
CATI and that the VOA consider charging the member levy to all entrants. We
would anticipate that, at a local level, this would result in increased club
members, increased participants at local and state events, increased VOA
memberships and ultimately increased levy revenue for the VOA over the coming
years.
More than happy for this to be discussed at the next VOA Board meeting on 24
August.

Second decision was the entry fee.
Decided to charge $15 all adults and $5 all juniors. The premise for this is that the event be publicised as a CATI SL event given that it is on a Saturday in Bendigo when many of Bendigo's non VOA members would normally be competing. The idea is to encourage them along to a SL event and hopefully they may like it, join the VOA and start competing at more SL events.
