Social Evening - Orienteering Fitness - February 10th

40 orienteers and friends attended an informative and entertaining social evening on Feb 10th at 1st Bennetswood Scout Hall.

Two speakers presented topics relevant to orienteers and  the evening finished with supper.

Steve Bird spoke first on Fitness for Orienteers. With video support he presented an overview of fitness and debunked some myths. He talked about the results of some of his research in this field.
 

Then Geoff Hudson presented highlights and learning experiences from his trips to Europe; cycling and orienteering. Some of his Hungarian maps were available for study. There was much speculation about one map which appeared to be pockmarked with bomb craters. Geoff explained that these were sinkholes in the limestone karst terrain.

Wyndham Summer Street-O kicks off at Chirnside Park Friday, 18 November 2011 The first event of the 2011-2012 Wyndham Summer Series Street-O started at Chirnside Park, Werribee with a Score event which took competitors along the river and the streets.
