ORIENTEERING VICTORIA SERVICES AWARD
The 2009 award for services to orienteering in Victoria was presented to Jim Russell (BG). Jim was instrumental in the organization of the recent Aus Champs carnival, pioneering the new Pretex maps for major events in Victoria. He has also worked with the Bendigo club as part of the major development project that they have undertaken. ROCKHOPPER TROPHY
Perennial trophy winners, Nillumbik, were in third position after the Vic Long Champs and needed a big haul of points from the new system designed to reward clubs for developmental activities. Whilst they were able to move BK down to third place, they fell just short of catching Bendigo who have pulled off their first win in this competition and will be only the third club (and first regional club) to take out this award. Well done to Bendigo. I'm sure NE will be redoubling their efforts to regain the trophy next year!
Other general thanks from the President today…
