MelbushO at Woodlands, Sunday August 20

Wednesday, 16 August 2017

Tuckonie Orienteers celebrated their 45th anniversary by hosting MelbushO at Woodlands Historic Park.  It was 45 years to the day that the club held its first event at Little Bullengarook - check our photos page to see the old-fashioned maps!

It was a glorious winter's day with plenty of sunshine, and no wind!  From the detail of the erosion features along the creek, to the sweeping, boulder-strewn hillsides, various navigational skills were tested.  As I approached the broad saddle between the two main hills, I realised I was surrounded by a mob of curious kangaroos - while the planes roaring overhead were a constant reminder that we were right on the doorstep of the world's most livable city. Quite a contrast.
