It was the classic dilemma - clockwise or anticlockwise? Merv and Bev complicated things by placing 3 controls close to the start, each taking you in a different direction - but was it the right direction? It was a really well thought out course. Early decisions to drop a control cost a couple of the A course runners, but half the field cleaned up the 70 points. Fastest were Bryan, Steven, Colin, Geoff and Warwick. Victory on B course went to Peter D on 60 points, ahead of Jay, Bruce, Phil and Tim. The PW results were oh so close, with Dave, Helen and Mark all scoring 60 points, and arriving back within a whisker of each other.
This was the second last week of the Autumn series, so you need to have completed 7 events to be up for a prize. Note that last week, we gave everyone who came along their average score, so no-one was disadvantaged - and you all got a millennium point as well. On A1, Bryan leapfrogged to top spot and is 5 points clear of Paul. It's not over yet though, with Ian and Tim just one and two points behind respectively. A2 still has Andrew in front, followed by Rick and Vic, and that doesnt look likely to change. Arthur, Roger and Lauris are the leaders on A3 with Ray still in contention, while Dale is uncontested on A4.
Ian will win B1 and Nick should take second, while Bruce and Tim are a point apart in the battle for third. B2 is still led by Peter M, Reg, and Pete, and that result will stand. I've locked in B3, with Pam second and Suzy third.
On PW, Dave was finally able to hit the perfect score of 800. Len is second, three points clear of Mark in third. Helen hit the front on PW2 with a big lead over Kay and Barry, and a well earned promotion next series. Ian is another with a strong lead ahead of Noel and Pat, with Gwennyth only one point out of the placings on PW3. Mike, Henk and Di should claim the top three spots on PW4 though Suzanne cant be ruled out.
Our final event for the series is on next Wednesday at Canterbury. Dinner and presentations will be held the following Wednesday, July 5, at the Bayswater Hotel.
