State Series MTBO #9, Macedon 20 August 2006

 

Great spring-like weather greeted the 60 competitors who gathered at the Tony
Clarke Reserve in Macedon for Round 9 of this year's MTBO State Series.

Rob Davis from Bayside Kangaroos set his first event and did a fine job in
utilising the Pine and Eucalypt forest tracks and also some single tracks we
hadnŐt been on before.

Those on Course 1 and 2 certainly enjoyed the fast downhill run over the last
part of the course. One competitor was concerned about starting a bush fire
such was the heat coming from his front disc rotor! The tracks were
considerably dryer than the same event at the same weekend last year.

We were a bit light on in Course 1 but the other courses and classes were
keenly contested with close times again separating many riders.

Many thanks to the Bayside Kangaroos members who helped put the event on.
Certainly a great start/assembly location with plenty of facilities.

Next and final event for the series will be at Castlemaine on September 17.
